About Barnet VT

Karme Choling Barnet VermontBarnet is a small town along the Connecticut River in Caledonia County. The first home in Caledonia County was built in Barnet. It is neighbored by Ryegate, Groton, Peacham, Danville, St. Johnsbury, and Waterford. These towns provide additional opportunity for work as well as fun. Interstate 91 runs North to South through Barnet, which allows for easy access to popular spots like Burlington and the state capital, Montpelier.

There are five villages within Barnet: Barnet Village, East Barnet, West Barnet, McIndoe Falls, and Passumpsic. Barnet is home to two beautiful natural attractions, Roy Mountain and Harvey's Lake, which add to the town's scenic landscape. The town has so much running water and, as a result, maintains about 53 bridges.

Harvey's Lake Beach, in West Barnet, is a popular spot for the town's residents and visitors from surrounding towns. Jacques Cousteau was know to have stayed at a Summer camp on Harvey's Lake when he was a boy in the 1920's. With playgrounds, picnic areas, and sandy shores, Harvey's Lake Beach is a great place to relax and enjoy Vermont's Summer days. The beach is open to the public during the off season, from September through May.

The Harvey's Lake Association sponsors a yearly "Harvey's Lake Day" with fun events such as the "mile long yard sale", boat parade, and fireworks at dusk. Check out the video of the 2016 Harvey's Lake Boat Parade captured by the Tim Scott Real Estate Team from one of our favorite Harvey's Lake listings!
