Lyndon, Vermont, founded in 1780, is one of the larger municipalities in the Northeast Kingdom. It is often the destination of folks from surrounding towns for shopping, dining and other services. The Village of Lyndonville, is located within the Town of Lyndon.
The Lyndon campus of Northern Vermont University hosts approximately 1200 students. NVU, along with Lyndon Institute and Burke Mountain Academy, offer academic, cultural and athletic opportunities to students from the area and from around the world.
Situated in the rural northeast corner of Vermont and surrounded by forests, fields and mountains, Lyndon is known as the "Covered Bridge Capital of the Northeast Kingdom". It is also located close to Burke Mountain, a local landmark that is well known for both skiing and mountain biking.
