About Walden VT

Walden, Vermont, is located in Caledonia County and has a population of 935 according to the 2010 census. The Town of Walden encompasses the villages of North Walden, Nevesville, Walden Heights, Goslants Mill, South Walden, Smith Corner and Taylor Bridge.

Walden is rich in natural resources such as wetlands and ponds, forests and farmland. A large portion of the Steam Mill Brook Wildlife Management Area is located in Walden. Much of this land was a timber source for the Fairbanks Scale Company in nearby St Johnsbury. Steam Mill Brook, which runs through the WMA, supplied power to a number of saw mills along its banks in the 1800's. Old foundations, stone walls and abandoned orchards are testament to this once-bustling area of town.

Coles Pond and Lyford Pond offer clean and quiet opportunities for waterfront properties.
